Is Sata 2 faster than SATA 1? I dont want to slow my new hdd down because of a cable.?

SATA2 drives are faster than SATA1 - they can transfer data twice as fast, provided your motherboard supports it. Most boards less than 5 years old would be SATA2. The data cable is the same. SATA3 has been out for a while, which supports even higher transer rates.
