Texas help: I've read Austin is crowded with low pay and Georgetown doesn't like newcomers. Which one is true?

I read where Austin is one of the best places to live. Add to that I am a musician and that my family loves to go biking, and it seems like Austin is a no-brainer with the music scene and bike paths galore. I've also read it's over-crowded and that jobs don't pay so well. The houses are tremendously better priced than where I live now, with a lot more house for the money. Since we'd rather live outside the city, I began looking at Georgetown. I read that there are jobs there, but the people are peculiar regarding "outsiders." Despite all of this, I've also read posts from people in each town that say they wouldn't live anywhere else; that BOTH are great cities. I hope someone out there can give me some honest, non-abusive, factual information regarding these claims. I don't want to read bashing comments. Thanks.
