Im attempting to build a new computer, will these components work with my intentions? what else will i need?

Well the configuration mentioned by you is most suitable for the work u mentioned. about power supply u will need extra fans n liquid cooling system as edit hd movies is a heavy task. Last but not least u will need extra cables n others stuff for ur new pc, most of the time those small stuff is provided by the vendor itself.
